Tangala Safari Camp – newly renovated – reopened and located in the exquisite Thornybush Game Reserve bordering the Greater Kruger. Tangala underwent a revamp which includes a soft refurbishment of the chalets, brand new tents, maintenance to tired looking areas. Solar power and gas geysers. This electricity-free, off the grid safari camp, is one of the only few authentic safari lodges of its kind in South Africa, offering Big 5 game viewing, excellent bird watching opportunities and comfortable, intimate accommodation.
The camp offers early morning and evening safaris and our guides and expert trackers are there to show you nature at its best, in their natural environment and without interference. The reserve borders the Greater Kruger National Park and the game viewing and birdlife is abundant with regular big game sightings.
Tangala Safari Camp overlooks a wide open plain, busy waterhole and has sweeping views of the majestic Drakensberg mountain range. From here guests enjoy the sights and sounds that the African Bush has to offer and with our friendly staff and knowledgeable guides to interpret these sights and sounds, guests are assured of a memorable experience
The camp itself is rustic and authentic with an informal and relaxed atmosphere, perfect to unwind and to get back in touch with nature. Public areas include an open-plan lounge and dining room, open air deck, swimming pool and viewing lounge – all overlooking the waterhole which is located in front of the camp where the game viewing within the confines of the lodge is prolific. Brunch, high tea, and dinner are served and the variety and offering are both tasty and substantial.
Accommodation comprises 4 chalets and 6 luxury tents, complete with covered patios, twin beds under mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms which include his and her basins, shower and toilet.
Tangala retains its authenticity and closeness to nature and runs “off the grid”, boasting solar power and natural gas to fuel the camp.

6 safari tents en suite with showers, his and hers basins and private patios.

Rangers carry rifles on all game drives and excursions, and all guests are escorted to their chalets after dark. Our guests’ safety is of utmost importance to us. Although our camp is created to protect our guests from malaria, it is strongly recommended that they take their appropriate preventative measures.

R 3 150 per person per night sharing – 4 Chalets
R 3 150 per person per night sharing – 5 Safari Tents
Single supplement – 50% of the per person sharing rate.
Rate inclusions: Accommodation, brunch, high tea, dinner, teas & snacks and two daily safari activities.
Rate exclusions: Conservation levy of R100.00 nett per person per stay, all drinks, transfers and items of a personal nature
CHILDREN: No children under 12 years are permitted at Tangala Safari Camp.
From 13 are treated as an adult and will be charged at adult rate.
The lodge reserves the right to restrict one night weekend or peak period bookings
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A 50% deposit of which 20% is non-refundable is required to confirm any reservation.
Full payment of the balance is due 42 days prior to guests arrival, unless the booking is made within 30 days, in which case full payment will be required to confirm the reservation.
The lodge reserves the right to restrict one night weekend or peak period bookings.
The following CANCELLATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS will apply to reservations which are cancelled in part or in full as follows:

60 and 30 days prior to arrival - 50% of the total amount will be due
29 and 15 days prior to arrival - 75% of the total amount will be due
14 and 2 days prior to arrival - 90% of the total amount will be due
1 day to No show – 100% of the total amount will be due.
